American performer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved programs including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles this Monday having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, as reported by reports.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a statement.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
