Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
