Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

It said debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
