The composer is believed to have composed the pair of organ works during his early years

Newly discovered musical pieces by the renowned composer Bach have been revealed and executed in Germany for the premiere performance in 320 years.

The nation's Cultural Affairs Minister the cultural official described the unearthing of the pair of works a "significant occasion for the world of music".

They originally drew interest of a musical scholar in 1992 when he was cataloguing the composer's papers at the Royal Library of Belgium.

The musical compositions - the Chaconne in D minor and G minor composition - were undated and anonymous. The researcher spent the next 30 years working to authenticate the origin of the pieces.

Memorable Concert

They were presented at the historic Leipzig church in the German city, where the composer is laid to rest and where he was employed as a music director for 27 years.

The compositions were played by organist from the Netherlands the renowned organist, who said he was honored to be able to play them for the first time in three hundred twenty years.

He said the pieces were "exceptionally well-crafted" and would be "a great asset for contemporary organ players, as they are also well-suited for smaller organs".

Historical Significance

They are thought to have been composed during Bach's formative years, when he was working as an organ teacher in the community of the Thuringian town in the German region.

The scholar, who is now the head of the Bach Archive in the city, said they exhibited several characteristics unique to the composer.

"Stylistically, the compositions also include elements that can be found in Bach's compositions from that era, but not in those of any other composer," he said.

They are believed to have been recorded in the early eighteenth century by one of Bach's pupils, the musical student.

At a revealing of the pieces, the expert said he was "99.99% sure that Bach had written the pair of works" and they have now been added into the authoritative listing of his works.
