New Information Emerge About the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
New information has come to light concerning the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
A Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a therapist arriving for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
After gaining access to the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.
Additionally refuted widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to reports of reportedly "unstable" conduct by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the residence. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
