Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match victorious run was ended by Sunderland before the global break, but will the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, fans and a range of guests.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's new record, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several charity football games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their weekend football team," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was still that team's coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

Fulham have got plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's home form, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
