Two Victims Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Authorities Persist in Manhunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the release by local law enforcement of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences online, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

His name was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a search at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our city”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a police source told the media outlet.

Law enforcement that entered the inn recovered two firearms and magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Of the nine hurt, one student was released from the hospital, said the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and one remained in critical care, police said on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Further Tributes

Cook was remembered at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at the university she was a shining example in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she worked for her branch and fellow classmates,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, companions, and fellow students and lament the passing of his potential.”

Broader Statistics

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US university with about thousands of bachelor's and 3,000 graduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents documented across the United States so far in the current year, according to statistics. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
